Project Genome

About Project Genome

“Project Genome is the internationally coordinated effort to characterize all HSX MovieStocks by determining the complete sequence of events that lead up to their release/delist. Project Genome’s ultimate goal is to provide to the HSX community-at-large as much relevant and useful information about every given stock as possible.” — Project Genome Research Committee

Mapping the HSX Genome. Can it be done? Does it make any sense?

The Project Genome Research Committee (PGRC) determined that it does and set about accomplishing this ambitious task. Our focus is to research and make recommendations on every stock on the exchange. Yes. . .every stock. We tell you our opinion on whether a stock is overpriced, underpriced, destined for greatness or possibly straight to video or cable. The Genome team is there to do all the work for you.

The scope of the project was huge. There are currently. . .well. . .a lot of stocks on the HSX Exchange and more coming every day with new IPOs. With subsequent updates, the PGRC has not only mapped all the current stocks, but also, daily, bring you any updated status of current stocks and new IPOs as they become available.

Information you can expect to find in the Genome are status of movies, main details and principal players, links to relevant data such as graphs, broker recommendations, Release Schedule and related News Minute articles. Plus, we have added a link to the newly updated HSX data pages. Our pipeline is endless. We believe total information is the wave of the future for the Genome.

There are no secrets left.

UPDATE:  As you may know, Project Genome was suspended in January 2006 due to server problems at its former home at the Hollywood Stock Brokerage & Resource (HSB&R).  In December 2006, as part of the HSB&R Archive Project, the entries from Project Genome were archived into their new, permanent home at ProjectGenome.net.  (Prior HSB&R columns may be found at theampersand.net.)  So far, the Project Genome team has been hard at work in updating old entries, creating new entries, and generally bringing Project Genome back to the high standard that HSX players expect, at least during those times when you’re not playing World of Warcraft.

Currently, Project Genome has entries on every active HSX MovieStock that we know about, most of them updated in the past couple of months.  We have a backlog of movies that IPOed and delisted in 2005 and 2006 that we’re trying to work our way through, but it will take awhile and isn’t our top priority.  If you would like to be a part of Project Genome, please send a short, snappy e-mail to blue(aquatic bird with webbed feet and bill) at (seventh letter of the alphabet)mail.com, or leave a note at our Feedback page.
